Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source that very little damage human environment. Unlimited amounts of geothermal energy lies below the surface. Geothermal energy is below the ground surface at different depths, and in rare cases, it protrudes on the surface. Developed countries in the world, and developing countries use geothermal energy. In developed countries where the energy price is real (market), geothermal power plants can produce electricity at the same price as well as conventional power plants. Other aspects of using geothermal energy are heating of residential, commercial and other buildings, streets and roads. These heating systems are efficient, economical and a good alternative to conventional heating systems.

In the wider area of Slobomir there has been performed detailed hydro-geological research, which shows that there are rich sources of geothermal water. Investigative well in Dvorovi, which is located 10 kilometers from Slobomir, has a water temperature of 75ºC at a depth of 1370 meters. In accordance with the available project documentation prognostic water temperature in the area of Slobomir city is about 80ºC at a depth of oko1800 meters and about 160ºC at a depth of 2500 meters and more. According to the achieved analysis, it is a renewable resource of geothermal water, among the richest in Europe.

"Slobomir" Company, Slobomir, has:

  • Građevinsko zemljište u vlasništvu sa primarnom infrastrukturom
  • Usvojene urbanističke, regulacione planove I drugu neophodnu projektnu dokumentaciju

  • Project on geological and geotechnical basis for the development of Slobomir
  • Project detailed hidrogeothermal researches in the area Slobomir-Popovi-Lakes "Obranak" in order to determine the conditions and the exploitation of thermal water and geothermal energy for their use for heating and other purposes
  • The main mining project of construction drilled wells for the exploitation of low-mineral underground drinking water at the location of Slobomir
  • Project of additional hydro-geological researches for pre-categorization of reserves of low-mineral underground drinking water and occurrences in the locality of Slobomir city
  • Project of exploitation of underground-burgeon water using vertical drilled wells IB-1-HG for needs of Slobomir city
  • Study on reserves of underground low-mineral water which is made of Mining and Geology Faculty from Belgrade.

Geothermal water in the area Slobomir-Popovi-Lakes "Obranak" can be used for:

  1. Exploitation in the Factory for bottling potable water and baverages, which would be built in area of Slobomir city.
  2. Aqua Park to be built in the area of Slobomir city (sports and recreational purposes)
  3. Heating greenhouses (the production of healthy food, herbs and flowers)
  4. Heating the new city Slobomir
  5. Spa-recreational purposes
  6. Ecological production of electricity in thermal plants. Given the types of thermal power plants it is expected to be in our power to use:

plant in which hot water is currently turned into steam when it releases pressure from the tank, i.e., the pressure which is lower than the pressure of tank. Power of steam is used to start turbines which, in turn, run a generator. After passing through the turbine, steam is condensed and water is returned to the reservoir through the wells to be re-heated, which means that this represent a closed cycle.

plants that operate on a binary system. They use the hot water of lower temperature. Thermal energy of geothermal water is used for heating other liquids that have low boiling temperatures such as isopentan, isobutene, liquid carbon dioxide or ammonia decomposition in water. Warm water in heat exchangers gives its own heat to, so called working fluid which goes into steam and expands. The steam then runs turbines and generator. Systems that work on binary cycle in the near future will be most common in geothermal power plants since they use geothermal water of lower temperature. Power plants that use a binary cycle work in a closed system, which means that there is no emission in the air after going through exchanger of heat, the water returns back into the tank.

Power plants based on geothermal energy do not burn fossil fuels to produce electricity so their level of emissions of gases is almost none. Geothermal steam and hot water does not naturally contain a higher concentration sulfur-hydrogen and other gases, and any chemicals that may be harmful to the human environment.

These plants release small amounts of carbon dioxide that is generated in thermal power plants of the same capacity that burn fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, oil). Geothermal power plants, on the other hand, emit only minor amounts of sulfur components in relation to the power plants that burn coal or oil. Power plants that use geothermal energy in comparison to those that use fossil fuels have the following advantages:

  • No transportation of fuel to power plants, or transportation of ash to disposal place
  • No need for construction of pipeline
  • No need for expensive construction of roads, which would be needed to transport liquid fuels
  • No water and air pollution.

Our company is open to all forms of cooperation regarding to use of geothermal water, and is particularly interested in the partnership on the implementation of these projects.
